PassLab Maths Tuition

PassLab is our 9-week structured course specifically designed to move learners from Grade 3 to Grade 4/5 in GCSE Maths. We will:

Next course starts September 26

  • Tackle high leverage GCSE topics that drive Grade 3 → 4/5 progress
  • Apply skills to successfully approach multistep, mixed topic problems
  • Break down long, wordy questions into clear, doable steps

Next course starts September 26

Does this sound familiar?

You’ve tried revising out of a textbook, YouTube videos, worksheets…

But right now, it feels like nothing is actually moving the grade.

You’re ready to follow a clear path to Grade 4/5 — without the confusion and constant frustration

It’s time to stop riding the rollercoaster of “good intention → overwhelm → avoidance.”

With PassLab, you get a clear, structured 9-week system that turns effort into marks — and helps students finally see the progress they’ve been working for.

GCSE Maths shouldn’t feel overwhelming, confusing, or unpredictable.

Through this programme, we follow a simple weekly cycle – Build → Apply → Reinforce – to help you master the exact skills that matter most for exam performance.

When you join PassLab, you’ll receive:

PassLab: the difference between feeling stuck at Grade 3 and moving confidently towards Grade 4/5.

  • Short teaching videos that introduce the core topic of the week
  • Automated knowledge checks with instant feedback
  • Practice worksheets with clear answers for independent study
  • A live weekly exam style problem solving masterclass
  • Weekly consolidation tasks (with instant feedback)
  • A feedback video showing exactly how marks were awarded

I have experience of 1-to-1 tuition, both delivering it as a tutor, and seeing the impact as a class teacher. It certainly has a place, and some learners thrive.

However, PassLab is designed to tackle the 3 main problems of traditional 1-to-1 tutoring:
  • It does not work for all learners. The student can be passive, disengaged and even overwhelmed at the level of attention. They may rely on the tutor and not develop effective independent study skills.
  • Learners only see the tutor once a week for an hour so progress is slow, unfocused and/or expensive.
  • Time with the tutor is limited, often inflexible and lacking in resources.
  • It can lack a defined beginning and end.

Would 1-to-1 support be more effective?

The short answer is: No - not usually.

Monday: Self-study materials are released by 3pm. Learners can choose when to complete the activities but....
Tuesday: ...the quiz must be submitted by 9pm
Wednesday: Rest Day, time to focus on other subjects
Thursday: Live group session PassLab Live 6:30-7:45pm, Q&A until 8pm (9.30-11am may be available on request)
Friday: Reinforcement materials released by 8am
Saturday: Rest Day have some fun, rest and if you need to study, focus on other subjects
Sunday: PassLab Rest Day / PassLab+ Live session: Stretch Sunday 6:30-7:45pm, Q&A until 8pm

A week inside PassLab

  • We reinforce good study habits and foster independence which leads to greater success when the learner moves on to the next stage of their education and into the workplace.
  • We offer support outside of the tutoring hours and scaffold learning with high quality resources that are tailor made for PassLab
  • All sessions are recorded and made available, so if you are unable to join us live you will not miss out on the content.
  • A defined start and end point encourages learners to engage and put the effort in for 9 weeks.

Learners are challenged and supported with a clear structure so they know what to expect each week, and know what is expected of them.

Throughout the week access to the Unstuck Engine means you never stay stuck for long.

This upgrades you to access the Unstuck Engine+ this then increases the number of questions you can ask and includes responses to any Level 2 Maths questions, not only those set by PassLab. Therefore, any question set by your teacher or any practice past papers can also be sent in for support.

You will have access to, an additional live session, Stretch Sunday. This allows more time for coaching on critical thinking and exam technique, with examiner feedback. As well as an opportunity to unpick any misconceptions within a smaller setting.

How much time will PassLab take up each week? +

We expect students to commit and put in the work so that they can acheive the Grade by the end of the course. We expect a time commitment of 2.5 - 3 hours per week during the 9-week course. This incudes time to work through the pre-released materials and attendance to the online live session.

PassLab+ will increase this to 4 - 5 hours per week as there is an additional live session, Stretch Sunday!

I'm not working at a Grade 3, is this for me? +

If you are working below Grade 3, you might find you need to spend a longer time working through the materials.

If you are working at Grade 4, this course should secure your Grade and push you towards a 5.

If you are confidently working at Grade 5 or above, we probably aren't the right course for you. Your time would be better spent revising the other topics.

I have Special Educational Needs (SEN), will I get support?+

We have designed PassLab to be as inclusive as possible. If you have additional needs that require reaonable adjustments please get in touch via the Contact page.

We will do everything we can to be supportive.

What do I need to access the course? +

You’ll need a device that can access Teams. Most tablets and computers will work just fine. We don't recommend a phone due to the size of the screen.

You'll obviously need an internet connection!

You will also need pen and paper.

What happens after I sign up? +

We will be in touch by email with our welcome pack and we will ensure you have access to the resource space.

What if I sign up and then don't like it? +

We want families to feel confident signing up to PassLab.

If you’re not happy with the programme, you may request a refund at any time within the first 3 weeks.

We will refund all remaining weeks, minus 1 week, to cover costs of admin, onboarding, and materials already provided. Refunds amounts are calculated based on the price paid at checkout.

Once a refund has been processed, access to all materials will cease.

Do you guarantee I will get at least a Grade 4 or 5? +

We can not guarantee a specific grade, there are so many things that can impact you on the day of the exam.

However, we are very confident that if you engage with the course and work through all the resources provide, you will be giving yourself the very best opportunity to achieve.

What happens if I don't get the grade and need to resit? +

If you do not acheive at least a Grade 4, you can retain access to the resources and obtain additional support at a discounted rate until you do.
